Spot UV applies a high gloss coating to selected design elements over a matte laminate base. The contrast between the two surfaces is striking, particularly on dark card designs where the gloss elements catch the light.

One thing worth knowing: the matte laminate base is what makes spot UV work. The flatter and more even the base surface, the more dramatic the gloss contrast. Always specify matte laminate when ordering spot UV cards.

What is the difference between spot UV and high build spot UV?
Standard spot UV is a flat gloss coating. High build spot UV is built up in multiple layers creating a raised tactile surface you can feel with your fingertip.
Does spot UV work on light coloured cards?
It works on all base colours but the contrast is most dramatic on dark matte bases where the gloss UV elements really stand out.
