Booklets - Saddle Stitched

Book a 5 min call

Saddle stitching is the most practical binding method for booklets up to around 64 pages. Two staples through the spine, pages lie flat when open, and the binding holds together with regular use.

Cover stock is heavier than internal pages giving structure and substance. A self cover option is available where the same stock runs throughout, which is a more economical choice for shorter runs. Economy and premium options quoted on every job.

One thing worth knowing: saddle stitched booklets must have a page count in multiples of four. If your content does not land on a multiple of four, you will need to add blank pages to make it work. It sounds simple but it catches a lot of people out when they are planning their content. Get in touch and we will help you work it out.

FAQs:

What is the maximum page count for saddle stitching?
Up to around 64 pages is practical for saddle stitching. Beyond that the spine starts to bulge and perfect binding is a better option.
What is a self cover booklet and when should I use it?
A self cover booklet uses the same stock throughout - cover and pages are the same weight. It is more economical than a separate heavier cover and suits lower page counts and simpler productions.
Can I get saddle stitched booklets in landscape format?
Yes. Landscape saddle stitched booklets are available. Note that landscape format costs more than portrait due to handling and setup differences.
What is the difference between economy and premium saddle stitched?
Economy uses our standard digital press. Premium uses our high-end press for richer colour and sharper reproduction. We quote both on every job.
